National Trust AGM

Richard has been sound designer for the National Trust for over ten years, brought in by Simon Corder who, in between designing lights and sets for opera all over the world, manages the AGM for the Trust.

Clarity is everything in these circumstances and, with very few exceptions Richard has brought Chris Baxendale in to operate the show itself, leaving him clear to concentrate on the sound in the room as a whole. The partnership has worked well and the event has formed a cornerstone of our year. Simon is the perfect Production Manager, setting out the big picture and leaving each department to get on with it, whilst always making himself available for a decision when needed. Combine this with an attentive and appreciative client and the event is always a pleasure.

This year saw a new layout in a venue we know well. Next door to Heelis, the Trust’s headquarters in Swindon is Steam, the Railway museum. The AGM now takes place in their function space, a refurbished engine shed. The arrangements works well, being easy to get to for NT members and close to the main offices. The emphasis has shifted from the live room to webcast and a major change in layout presented new challenges, as did torrential rain on the metal roof….

The team has been together for many years now and the get in always feels a bit like coming home. It really makes a difference to work with people we  know and for a client who treats us so well and with such respect. Long may it continue.

From Jo Cooke after the event this year:

I’ve received so many appreciative and complimentary comments about the production arrangements and how smoothly everything was run.  Our Director-General sums it all up nicely….

Dear All – just to say thanks so much for all the hard work which made yesterday such a successful and enjoyable event.    All the painstaking preparation really paid dividends, and it will have given such a positive impression to our members – and indeed our new Chairman!   All the members I spoke to were very warm in their praise for the event.  So well done all!  Please pass my thanks on to anyone else involved.  Very best wishes, Helen

Grateful thanks to you and your teams for all your hard work, for doing such a professional job and being a fun team to work with – you’re all brilliant!
