Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka has been described as the world’s second best Sitar player- second only to her father, Ravi who sadly died recently. We’d like to extend our sympathies to her and the family as whole. That she was described as the second best player to her father was no faint praise. Modest as ever she doesn’t comment on this but anyone who has heard her perform can be left in no doubt of her extraordinary skills and empathy for the instrument. We were approached by her management company, Sulivan Sweetland, to suggest suitable engineers for her world tour and were delighted when Dennis Fernandez and Julian Hepple were asked to form part of her team.
Dennis and Julian travelled extensively last year and we were able to offer them their choice of system for the UK section. Anoushka produced some remarkable music on what has to be the most friendly and genuinely heartfelt tour we have experienced. The UK leg was rounded off by a performance in the Members Dining Room at the House of Commons.This unusual venue provided its own challenges but as always the performance eclipsed the historic surroundings.
