The Garden Party

Summer is here and inevitably the moment a get in starts, the English weather kicks in.

That said we can’t complain as this summer has in fact seen more good weather than most. Walthamstow’s Garden Party enjoyed some very blue skies indeed but the get in day was so bad we had to evacuate the stage twice as lightning storms came through.

The crew still managed to be rigged on time and even got ahead of themselves which made Saturday mornings start much more civilised.

Bobby Womack was originally down to headline but sadly passed away about a month before the event. The Brand New Heavies stepped in and with Maxine Gilmore at the helm the festival provided some great music in an atmosphere of extraordinary friendliness. This was a Barbican production with the local Council and the Barbican team ran the site with their usual efficiency and attention to detail.
