LSO in Trafalgar Square

This year’s concert by the London Symphony Orchestra in Trafalgar Square was supposed to be the last of three sponsored by BMW.  The concerts aim to offer outstanding music performed in the open air free to everyone.

Again we provided a substantial Meyer MILO system with Midas and Yamaha control. Our ever increasing stock of DPA microphones was put to full use and the sponsors were so pleased by the results they announced an extension of the series for the foreseeable future. Needless to say we are delighted, not just because we value our involvement but also because the event showcases the very best musicianship both in terms of the LSO itself but in its young musician programme.

Once again providing sound in Trafalgar Square brought its own set of challenges as various restrictions meant that there were clearly defined “sound boundaries” that we needed to stay within.  However, it was also critical that the audience felt part of the performance and that, despite the open air, an atmosphere of intimacy was created.  The event was again a success and we are looking forward to 2015.

We wish Marc the very best in his new role in Canada and look forward to working with Mario who takes over from him as Concerts and Recording Manager.

Marc Stevens, the LSO concerts and recordings manager said:

"The event last year was been described in my world, by people who really knew about such things, as the best outdoor sound for orchestra they had ever heard. This year was better."
